How to listen to Tunisian radio from abroad

France, Canada, Germany or the Gulf: a complete guide to keeping up with radio from home, without an FM aerial or extra cost.

Nearly one Tunisian in ten lives abroad. For many, radio remains the most direct link with home: the language, debates, music and football results.

The good news is that every station listed on Radioun provides an online stream that can be accessed free of charge from any country, without geographic restrictions. Here is how to enjoy it reliably.

On your phone: the Android app

For daily listening, the Radioun app is more convenient: background playback while you use other apps, favourites for finding stations in one tap and fast search across the whole catalogue.

It is free and available on Google Play.

How much mobile data does radio use?

A radio stream uses roughly 30 to 60 MB per hour, depending on the station’s stream quality. On Wi-Fi this is rarely a concern; on 4G, one hour of listening per day represents about 1.5 GB per month. If your allowance is limited, use Wi-Fi for longer sessions.

Managing the time difference

Tunisia remains on UTC+1 throughout the year. From Montreal, a 7 a.m. morning show therefore airs at 1 a.m.; Tunisia’s lunchtime bulletins are a more convenient choice because they arrive early in the Canadian morning. From Western Europe, the difference is zero or one hour, so schedules can be followed almost in real time.

The stream will not start?

In most cases, a stream that will not start is caused by a temporary interruption at the station. Try again a few minutes later, or report the problem from the station page so we can prioritize checking it.

  • Check that neither your phone volume nor the player volume is muted.
  • Some business networks block streaming ports; try using 4G instead.
  • If a station remains silent for several days, use “Report an unavailable stream” on its page.

Where should you start?

For a sense of home through three stations, choose Mosaïque FM for daily life, RTCI if you are more comfortable in French, and the station from your home region for local news.
